priSM® credential holders - overview of Distinguished Professional credential requirements

The Distinguished Professional level is open to those who have met the priSM® specified requirements at the Professional level and have demonstrated professional maturity in Service Management. The Distinguished Professional will have a minimum of ten (10) years Service Management experience such as:


  1. BulletSubstantial growth, tenure, responsibility or achievement as a Service Management professional (e.g., process manager, process owner, project manager, service management program director, service owner, etc...)


  1. BulletRecognized service management industry contributions such as leadership, publications, mentoring, speaking, volunteering, etc.


Mandatory Requirements:

  1. BulletMembership in itSMF (reciprocity with other chapters upon request)


  1. BulletSigned itSMF Code of Ethics form


  1. BulletTen (10) years of Service Management experience (defined above)


  1. BulletTwo (2) certificates at the Distinguished Professional level from the Approved Certification List, one (1) must be Service Management‐based (ISO/IEC 20000, v1/v2/v3 ITIL®)


  1. BulletTen (10) additional points from the Approved Certification and/or Qualification List (neither the prerequisites for the required certificates nor the two certificates themselves can be used to fulfil the ten (10) point requirement).


Applicant submits:

  1. BulletSigned copy of the priSM® Application Form with a signed copy of the itSMF Code of Ethics and priSM® agreement (included at the end of this application) Résumé, CV or priSM® Supplemental CV Addendum Form priSM® Calculator & Checklist Form and documentary evidence as follows:


  1. BulletTwo (2) certificates obtained from training programs at the Distinguished Professional level, one (1) must be either v1/v2 ITIL® Manager’s Certificate, v3 ITIL® Expert via v2‐v3 Manager Bridge or MALC, Executive Consultant/Manager or Executive Auditor according to ISO/IEC 20000)


  1. BulletDocumentation of having earned ten (10) points from the Approved Certification and/or Qualification List (prerequisites for the two required certificates are not eligible; do NOT count the two (2) required certificates in the 10 required points)


  1. BulletCompleted and signed priSM® Reference Form
